Lewis Redfern Appointed Head of Southlands College

Southlands Methodist Trust, Southlands College, and the University of Roehampton are pleased to announce that Mr Lewis Redfern has been appointed permanently as Head of Southlands College.

Lewis has served as Interim Head of College for the past year, bringing exceptional leadership, talent, and enthusiasm to the role. Throughout his time at Southlands College, he has been a dedicated champion of the Trust’s values and mission.

Lewis first joined the College in 2021 as its Engagement and Activities Officer. Since then, he has progressed through a number of leadership roles, becoming Deputy Head of College in 2024 and subsequently Interim Head of College in 2025. His permanent appointment reflects the significant contribution he has made to the College community and his continued commitment to the success of its students.

The CEO of the Southlands Methodist Trust, Dr Christopher Stephens, writes:

“I am delighted to welcome Lewis Redfern as the next Head of Southlands College.

Since its foundation, Southlands has been shaped by the identity and mission of the Methodist Church: committed to learning, service, justice, inclusion, and the flourishing of individuals and communities. As we look to the next phase in the life of the College, Lewis brings a wealth of qualities needed to renew that inheritance for today’s students.

Lewis is a careful and able leader, with a strong commitment to student leadership and to helping students develop a deep sense of vocation: the confidence, purpose and responsibility to serve others, strengthen communities, and make a lasting difference in the lives of those around them. I very much look forward to working with him as he leads Southlands into this next chapter.“
