IAMSCU and Southlands Methodist Trust have committed funds towards two grant-awarding processes: collaborative projects and research networks.
IAMSCU’s stated shared values for its work in Methodist education set out the commitment to work together across our institutions for a better world through promoting reason, research and debate. IAMSCU works to support high academic standards and to affirm education that both promotes social justice and also counters prejudice and intolerance in whatever forms that takes.
With these values and aims in mind, the IAMSCU Board of Directors and the Southlands Methodist Trust have both committed funds of $10,000 (USD) to establish two grant-awarding processes. These will generate creative paths of connection through research, and networks of researchers, furthering the ethos and values of the Methodism in the broadest sense, and creating meaningful global links between Methodist institutions. This initiative will facilitate new ways of thinking and doing, promoting peace and challenging intolerance.
IAMSCU is ideally placed to disseminate findings from research and promote conversations through conferences and publications, working for a better world for all.
Scope
Funding is intended to support two separate initiatives which will be rolled out simultaneously.
- Research Networks (up to $2,000 USD) To enable individuals or groups to form and grow research networks – gatherings of individuals and groupings of projects where there are shared interests and cross-over in work within, and between, Methodist HE institutions. The aim of this will be to offer peer support, mutual learning, and to generate collaborative activity and initiatives for the advancement of learning.
- Collaborative Research Projects (to to $8,000 USD) These will be considered independently of any funded IAMSCU research networks, although they may of course emerge from conversations taking place in those networks.

Process
The application and awarding process will be similar for both the establishing of a network and an individual project.
