We are seeking those interested in contributing to the exciting and wide-ranging activity of Southlands Methodist Trust at Southlands College, University of Roehampton, through becoming a Trustee. This offers a chance to participate in the life of a university college whose foundation and guiding principles are grounded in Methodist values, and which is part of a world-class, modern, research university dedicated to holistic student success.
Specifically, the Southlands Liaison Group (SLG) and the Southlands Methodist Trust (SMT) are seeking expressions of interest from those interested to be considered as new members/trustees. Appointments are made simultaneously to both bodies, on the recommendation of those groups to the Methodist Council.
Read the most recent Southlands Methodist Trust Annual Report here (pdf) or here (online, on Issuu) to find out more about our activities.
We are especially seeking expressions of interest from well-qualified individuals who will expand the diversity of our membership.
The SMT and SLG normally meet 3 times per year (and rarely more than 4 times). The dates for their meetings can be made flexibly around the availability of its members, though they normally coincide with university terms and take place on weekday afternoons.
Members of the groups occasionally take on additional roles, such as supporting grants scrutiny processes.
We encourage our members/trustees to take an active part in the life of the college and its university, inviting them to attend a number of events and activities through the year and to work with us on any relevant projects. As such, we would hope that a new members to be able and willing to accommodate travel to Roehampton on a number of additional occasions each year.
The positions are not remunerated, but costs of travel and associated activities performed for the Trust will be reimbursed.
In addition to our core membership, the Trust is seeking expressions of interest for nomination as Chair of the two groups, and also the Methodist Church’s nominee to the Council of the University of Roehampton (its governing body) – the latter being a role to be held concurrently with membership of the SLG and SMT. Those wishing to be considered for these roles should indicate in their expressions of interest.
