Southlands Saturday

Former students of Southlands received a warm welcome back to the college in early September as they returned for a special alumni reunion day. The annual  event, known as Southlands Saturday, was revived by the college in 2022 to mark its 150th anniversary, and has again become a fixture in the calendar thanks to its popularity among past students.

The gathering was timed for the end of the summer holidays, on 2 September, bringing together around 60 former students along with college Fellows, former staff and a number of current students, along with members of the Southlands Methodist Trust. Assembled guests enjoyed a full programme of activities, hosted by Christopher Stephens, Head of College. During the day, there was an opportunity to celebrate the lives and contributions of Dr Peter Briggs and Dr Mike Leigh, former Principals of Southlands, both of whom passed away last year.
